This term our exciting new topic is ‘Scrumpdiddlyumptious!’. The children start by exploring a range of foods through touch, smell and taste. The topic links through to all curriculum areas. An overview of Maths and Literacy skills that will be covered can be found below.  Please do not hesitate to ask your child’s class teacher for any further information.

Literacy including Spelling Punctuation and Grammar

In literacy the children are going to be reading “The Frog Prince Continued” and using this as a stimulus for learning. We will focus on the characters and their thoughts and feelings. This text offers an engaging stimulus for creative response to text, this half term we will be writing diary entries for the characters. We will also be linking our literacy to our topic work, with instructional writing in the form of recipes, editing and improving in order to create the best final piece that they can.

Our Grammar, punctuation and spelling learning will focus on the following skills;

  • The use of inverted commas to punctuate direct speech.


In Maths this term children will focus our learning on the following skills;

  • Money
  • Multiplication


In topic this term your child will be taken on a yummy journey of discovery tasting fantastic fruits, venerable vegetables and tantalising treats! We are going to get busy in the kitchen making tasty dishes and discover how food makes us fit and strong. If you are what you eat…what does that make you?

This topic will cover the following curriculum areas;

Science: The learning will focus on nutrition.

Geography: We will be discussing food miles and fair trade.

Design Technology: We will continue our science learning with our cooking.

Art: We will be sculpting and drawing still life.

Computing: We will focus on using the internet.

French: We will continue our learning on food vocabulary.
