Rewarding Reading

We know that reading is the key to success!  For this reason we encourage children to read at home and read widely (comics, websites, books, recipes)

To reward and encourage regular (and sustained) reading we have a whole school ‘Reading Reward System’

Each child has a reading record book.  We ask that children read at least 4 times a week (if not more!) with parents and/or carers and that reading diaries are then signed by the adults. Each week a member of staff will monitor if your child has read and this will be recorded on a chart based in your child’s classroom. The prizes start small and move up to larger treats such as magazines, books or even a t-shirt!
